National Squirrel Appreciation Day

Did you know today is National Squirrel Appreciation Day? I had no idea until it popped up in my feed on Twitter. The day of appreciation was started in 2001 by Christy Horne, a wildlife specialist from North Carolina. If you have lived in the TriState area for more than one season, you are well aware of how abundant these critters are in the area. While many people consider them a nuisance, I find them fun to photograph. From leaping through trees to stealing dropped food at campgrounds, I always have an abundance of activity to shoot (with my camera, people) while taking in the sights and sounds of nature.

Here are just a few I took last summer while camping at Harmonie State Park.

Thoughts? I want to hear them!
